FAQ

What are eBay seller fees in 2026?

On eBay France, a private seller residing in the EEA pays 0% — no final value fee, no per-order fee, no regulatory fee — since 1 September 2026; the buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee instead. Business sellers pay a category-based rate of 5% to 12% of the total sale amount (item + shipping), plus €0.35 per order and regulatory fees. Check your eBay account for your exact category rate.

Does eBay charge fees on shipping?

Yes. If you charge €6.50 for shipping, eBay applies its fee percentage to €91.50 (€85 item + €6.50 shipping), not just €85. This is the most common mistake new sellers make — this calculator includes shipping in the fee base automatically.

What is the difference between private and business seller fees?

Private sellers in the EEA pay 0% since 1 September 2026 (US private sellers pay ~13.6% + the per-order fee). Business sellers get category-specific rates and access to seller tools (promotions, analytics). Select 'business account' in the calculator and enter your exact rate from your eBay seller dashboard.

How do I calculate net profit before listing on eBay?

Net profit = sale price − purchase cost − packaging − eBay fees (commission + fixed fee + regulatory) − shipping cost if you pay it. This calculator handles the platform side; add your local tax rate separately for true net profit.

Do I need a business registration to sell on eBay?

Requirements vary by country. In the EU, eBay reports via DAC7 once you exceed €2,000 in sales or 30 transactions per year. Check your local regulations — many countries require a business registration for regular reselling activity.
